The hooded jacket // A kapucnis zakó

The hooded jacket // The hooded jacket

There are only a few garments that have embedded themselves in our wardrobe like jeans and the three thousand-year-old piece of clothing in the title that went all the way from the Romans to the wardrobe of a 21st century man. Today, there is hardly a man who would not lurk in a hoodie, ie a hooded sweater in his closet, that has already stolen itself among the elegant pieces of clothing.

The hooded clothes were already found in the wardrobes of the ancient Greeks and Romans, and then in the orders of the monks of the Dark Ages it was an essential part of the monk's robe, emphasizing seclusion and isolation. Then in the 17th century, ladies also liked to pull hoods on themselves to hide from their suitors. In addition to intimacy and seclusion, a "darker" gap also evolved around the hood, depicting executioners in a hood. Today's sweater form only appeared in the 1930s when it was introduced by the Knickerbocker Knitting Company as Champion. It only became widely popular when it was no longer just a clothing for athletes, but became a staple for rappers and punks in the 1970s and '80s with the strengthening of hip hop culture. Hoodies were soon featured in the collections of Tommy Hilfiger, Giorgio Armani and Ralph Lauren - hence their popularity has skyrocketed. Today, this completely ordinary yet special piece is so prevalent that political leaders and businessmen also pick it up against unspoken dress codes. The hooded wear represents sportiness, simplicity and is intertwined with social exclusion, crime and the underworld at the same time.

Today, in addition to being sporty, it can be a popular outfit as well as an elegant outfit. In addition to its modern, aesthetic function, a hooded jacket is an extremely practical choice for windy, colder weekdays.
